As CPL enters a new era of leadership and regional engagement, our mission remains clear: to design spaces that strengthen communities and create lasting impact. My own journey—from a high school intern to president of CPL—has shaped my belief that design is more than aesthetics; it’s about purpose, partnership, and progress.
A Leadership Story Rooted in Purpose
I began my career with a passion for design and a commitment to community. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of founding my own firm, leading CPL’s K–12 practice, and now guiding our organization into its next chapter. This experience has taught me that leadership is not about control, it’s about collaboration, listening, and creating opportunities for others to thrive.
Strategic Growth with Local Impact
CPL’s growth strategy is intentional. Through acquisitions, we’ve expanded our footprint while honoring the legacy of firms that have served their communities for decades. Our goal is not just to grow bigger, but to grow better, by integrating diverse perspectives and delivering community-focused design leadership tailored to each region’s unique needs.
Vision 2030: A Bold Path Forward
Our Vision 2030 initiative builds on the foundation of Vision 2025, guiding CPL toward a more distributed, diverse leadership model. We envision a future where our national presence is balanced by deep local engagement, ensuring that every project reflects the culture and character of the community it serves. This vision includes:
- Empowering Regional Leadership: Decentralizing decision-making to strengthen local relationships.
- Investing in Innovation: Leveraging technology and sustainable practices to design for the future.
- Championing Diversity: Expanding leadership opportunities and fostering inclusive design solutions.
Vision 2030 is not just a roadmap, it’s a commitment to shaping environments that inspire, connect, and endure.
Designing for Community and Culture
Our work in civic, cultural, and educational spaces reflects our belief that design can transform lives. From libraries and schools to public plazas and cultural centers, we strive to create places where people gather, learn, and grow. This commitment is strengthened by the collaboration of our engineering teams whose expertise helps ensure these environments are resilient, efficient, and built for long‑term community impact. Recent leadership appointments, including National Practice Leaders for Community & Culture and Placemaking, underscore our dedication to this mission.
Building Brand Equity Through Relationships
In today’s competitive landscape, trust is everything. CPL is investing in strategic marketing and local engagement to build visibility and credibility in key markets. But more importantly, we’re investing in relationships, because great design begins with understanding the people it serves. My leadership philosophy is simple: listen first, design second. By partnering with civic leaders, business stakeholders, and community advocates, we can deliver solutions that stand the test of time.
As we look toward 2030, I invite regional stakeholders to join us in shaping the future of their communities. Whether through partnerships, projects, or conversations, CPL is ready to collaborate on solutions that elevate quality of life and drive sustainable growth.
Together, we can design spaces that reflect our shared values and aspirations.
