CPL partnered with the City to develop the park’s programming and conceptual design, aligning every element with the R3 vision of revitalization and long-term community resilience.
Situated within the McClure Conservation Property just south of South Fulton Parkway, the park celebrates the natural character of the site, weaving nearly two miles of multi-use trails and boardwalks through existing creeks, woodlands and ecological features. This sensitive circulation strategy preserved the site’s environmental integrity while opening new access to passive recreation and nature engagement.

At the heart of the design is a multi-purpose activity lawn, framed by a gravel loop trail that serves as a flexible gathering zone for food trucks, seasonal events and farmers markets. This space functions as a social anchor, offering recreational open space that evolves with the needs of the community.
The park’s program was strategically developed to support both active and contemplative experiences. Amenities include four pickleball courts, a 9-hole disc golf course, a 60’ x 60’ community garden, a picnic pavilion and restroom facilities, providing recreational options for all age groups and interests. Throughout the trail network, visitors encounter swinging benches for quiet moments of respite, paired with interpretive signage to foster environmental education and deepen the connection between people and place.

In keeping with Union City’s environmental values, our team integrated numerous bio-retention features throughout the park to manage stormwater responsibly and support local biodiversity. These systems are visually reinforced by expansive wildflower meadows and native grass landscapes, making the park not only functional but ecologically enriching.
This park is a physical manifestation of Union City’s commitment to equitable, sustainable urban development. By reclaiming this conservation land and reimagining it as a community asset, the project brings the City’s R3 Master Plan to life—honoring the past, enriching the present and inspiring the future.
