Lockport Memorial Hospital stands as a transformative beacon for the Niagara County community, representing a crucial response to the healthcare vacuum left by the closure of Eastern Niagara Hospital.

This landmark initiative, a collaborative effort between the Catholic Health System and CPL, was driven by a commitment to establish a paradigm-shifting “neighborhood hospital.”

As an integral extension of Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, NY, Lockport Memorial Hospital spans an impressive 63,000 sq. ft. The project serves as an innovative model aimed to harness the specialized capabilities of various Western New York sites, effectively filling critical service gaps for the local population.

The facility is equipped with an 18-bed emergency department, a 10-bed inpatient unit designed for scalability with growing patient volumes, and state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and laboratory equipment. The latter includes capabilities for CT, digital x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and MRI procedures.

The 30-acre campus further encompasses a 22,646 sq. ft. building housing primary care, women’s health, and specialty treatment offices; outpatient clinical spaces; non-patient departments (such as dietary programs, administrative offices, and a pharmacy); as well as staff support and enhanced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.

Serving as the Architect of Record, CPL’s healthcare team provided architectural, interior design and permitting services, and worked alongside M/E Engineering (Engineering) and Pike Construction Services (Construction Management) to successfully deliver the project.

Beyond its physical footprint, Lockport Memorial Hospital symbolizes a steadfast commitment to providing adaptable and sustainable healthcare solutions. Catering to the immediate needs of over 80,000 individuals, the facility, conceived as a long-term asset, offers access to advanced medical and surgical support across the entire Catholic Health System.
