Rochester Regional Health (RRH) partnered with CPL to extend its reach in Genesee County through the design and construction of their Medical Destination Center in rural Batavia. This four-story facility is strategically located between Rochester and Buffalo. It serves as a centralized hub for various outpatient healthcare services, streamlining accessibility and eliminating the need for residents to travel to multiple specialty clinics.

Our team worked closely with RRH stakeholders during the initial design and planning phases to define three essential project pillars: improving patient-practitioner interactions, enhancing staff workflow, and elevating the patient’s experience through proven design standards. These conversations led to the development of separate patient and practitioner areas as well as distinct on-stage and off-stage layouts.

Careful design consideration was given to seamlessly integrate various disciplines throughout the facility, including neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, pediatrics, primary care and a multi-specialty clinic. As a result, the facility fosters critical interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing communication, efficiency and the quality of patient care.

Additionally, the facility has space for essential health services, including a blood draw lab, imaging and urgent care.

Emphasizing daylighting, the center boasts well-lit entry points on every floor and mindfully positioned natural lighting in waiting rooms. This promotes a positive and calming environment in communal areas.

The RRH Medical Destination Center brings patient-centered care to the heart of Batavia, establishing exceptional health services for the city and its neighboring communities.
