Recognizing the pressing need for improvements, the district hoped to elevate the track from six to eight lanes; however, an unused concession building located too close to the track obstructed the new enlarged track.

Working with the District and FitFields athletic consultants, our K-12 team devised a strategic plan to address this obstacle by demolishing the old concessions building to create space for the desired track expansion. Additionally, the team evaluated several project timeline options that would afford the district adequate time to secure a grant for the replacement of their outdated grass field.

At the onset of construction, another issue surfaced with the soil revealing its unstable nature. This unforeseen challenge led to an immediate halt in construction, prompting CPL to collaborate closely with the district to establish the most suitable course of action. Within a remarkably short span of one week, the team successfully executed lime stabilization both effectively addressing the soil concerns and allowing the project to resume without any further delay.

Track and field at high school
The project was completed prior to graduation, allowing Piedmont graduates to receive diplomas at their newly renovated football stadium. Catering to the needs of Piedmont Panther’s football, track, soccer, and lacrosse teams, the eight-lane track and turf field provide a versatile, top-notch environment for the school’s athletic programs and community events.
