Peachtree City is known for its 111-mile network of multi-use paths—many of them traveled by golf cart—and a parks system that reflects its five-village identity. In 2023, city leaders launched a Parks & Recreation Master Plan to uphold their mantra of “uncompromised excellence” while addressing changing demographics and aging infrastructure.

Our Placemaking Practice team stepped in to help chart the path forward. We began with a comprehensive inventory of the entire park system, evaluating every playground, trail and facility. Leveraging geographic information system (GIS) mapping, national guidelines and advanced software such as Placer.ai, we gathered insights on visitation patterns and public needs, ensuring all plan recommendations were based in real-world context.

Each step emphasized listening. Through town meetings, council work sessions and more than 40 stakeholder interviews held over 14 months, we connected directly with the people who know Peachtree City best. A statistically valid survey completed by 2,400 participants also revealed a broad and nuanced view of shared priorities.
The result was a tailored standard of service and a phased strategy grounded in how residents truly experience their parks. Informing investment over a 10-year horizon, the plan outlines a three-tiered improvement approach, complete with six high-priority conceptual park designs that close gaps in equity, access and facility conditions—such as underused “tot lots,” dated restrooms and limited recreational options for teens and seniors.

A supplementary report offers financial recommendations, opinions of probable cost (OPCs) and guidance for programming and land acquisition—equipping city officials with the tools to move seamlessly from ideation to implementation.
Adopted in early 2025, the plan is already shaping tangible progress. Whether reimagining well-loved spaces or planning for future amenities like a cricket field or indoor natatorium, Peachtree City is turning a decade-long vision into everyday impact—setting new benchmarks not only for parks and recreation, but for community life itself.
