The team worked closely with library staff to understand how the existing building could better serve evolving user needs. Through ongoing stakeholder engagement, planning discussions focused on improving functionality, flexibility and overall experience, while 3D visualizations helped guide decision-making and refine the design throughout the process.

The renovation introduced two new private study rooms in response to long-standing community demand for dedicated spaces for focused work, meetings and individual study.
Existing public areas were reconfigured to accommodate modern patterns of library use, incorporating adaptable shelving, computer stations and improved circulation paths to enhance accessibility throughout the facility.
Interior upgrades, including new carpeting, updated lighting and finishes, helped create a more comfortable environment. The children’s and family areas were also expanded and improved to streamline browsing and checking out books.

Behind the scenes, staff and storage areas were reorganized to provide additional space and improve operations. The service desk was redesigned to enhance usability, visibility and accessibility, creating a more efficient point of service for both staff and patrons.

The completed renovation reinforces Stratton Library as a welcoming public space that supports connection, learning and belonging within the community. It continues to serve as a flexible environment that adapts to evolving needs while providing access and shared experience.
