The City of Locust Grove’s Public Safety Facility seamlessly blends modern law enforcement functionality with the community’s rich architectural heritage. Inspired by the design of a former boys’ dormitory from the historic Locust Grove Institute, this 18,219-square-foot facility reflects the city’s civic identity while supporting the evolving needs of its police department and court system.

The two-story wing houses police headquarters, including administrative offices, records, and patrol functions—creating an efficient, centralized hub for law enforcement operations.

The adjacent one-story section contains a versatile 120-seat municipal courtroom, thoughtfully designed with a saw-tooth dais for enhanced sightlines, doubling as the mayor and council chamber. This wing also includes an evidence investigation lab, secure evidence storage, holding cells, and an enclosed sally port to ensure safe and controlled prisoner transfers.

Located next to City Hall, the facility balances historical character with contemporary public safety demands, providing a lasting, adaptable space to serve the community’s growing needs for years to come.
