It is an exciting time for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP). As reported by Richmond BizSense, the agency recently completed a 17,500 sq. ft. expansion at One James Center—a project CPL’s Richmond team was proud to lead as the interior architecture and design partner.
With VEDP’s team nearly doubling in size over the last five years, their “bursting at the seams” reality required a strategic spatial solution. Our Community and Culture team designed a high-performance fit-out on the building’s sixth floor, bringing their total downtown Richmond footprint to 100,000 sq. ft.
Key Design Successes:
-
Bridging the Floors: We extended the internal staircase to connect all four levels, ensuring that despite their size, the VEDP team remains a single, cohesive unit.
-
Reclaiming Collaboration: By adding five new conference rooms—including the largest in their suite—we’ve allowed the agency to reclaim huddle spaces that had previously been converted into makeshift offices.
-
Empowering the Mission: These new workspaces provide the necessary infrastructure for VEDP’s critical initiatives, including the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program and Real Estate Solutions team.
We’re thrilled to see VEDP’s continued success and honored to design the environments that power Virginia’s economic engine.
