We are thrilled to announce that CPL has been named a winner in the prestigious 2023 IIDA Healthcare Design Award in the Ambulatory > Cancer Center category for our work on the FirstHealth of the Carolinas – Moore Regional Hospital Outpatient Cancer Center Building. This recognition in interior design is a testament to our commitment to creating healing and inclusive spaces that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
A Bridge to Better Care
FirstHealth of the Carolinas embarked on a visionary $30 million ‘Building the Dream’ campaign to bridge regional gaps in cancer treatment. The goal was clear: establish a centralized cancer center that would eliminate the need for patients to travel long distances for world-class care, bringing healing closer to home.
Understanding the deeply personal and diverse nature of cancer treatment experiences, our design approach focused on creating inclusive spaces that catered to a wide range of patient needs. Our primary objectives were to establish non-clinical environments that fostered a strong sense of belonging, while also prioritizing essential factors like wayfinding and security to ensure a seamlessly navigable environment.
Today, the FirstHealth Cancer Center stands as a pinnacle of modern, patient-centric design. Spanning four levels, each at 30,000 sq. ft., this comprehensive facility brings all essential treatment services under one roof. From chemotherapy infusion and medical oncology to multidisciplinary clinics, palliative care, laboratories, clinical trials, and radiation oncology – it’s all here.
