WOODSTOCK, GA — CPL, a full-service design firm serving public and private-sector clients for more than 49 years, is pleased to welcome Michael Looney, AIA, NCARB and James Sipes, RLA to its offices in Georgia.
Joining the firm’s Civic Buildings National team as a Senior Architectural Project Manager in Woodstock, GA, Looney brings nearly five decades of architectural experience across the United States, the Caribbean and China. This extensive background includes managing diverse building types such as educational, healthcare, residential and commercial projects. Utilizing this expertise, Looney will lead complex projects, drive innovative architectural solutions and ensure successful client outcomes.
Before coming to CPL, Looney served as a Senior Project Manager at Nelson Worldwide in Alpharetta, GA, where he managed numerous high-profile projects. His educational background includes a Master of Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Florida. Looney is a licensed architect and is actively involved in several professional and community organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
Sipes joins the firm’s Government Services National team as a Senior Landscape Architectural Project Manager in Suwanee, GA. With over three decades of expertise in landscape architecture, urban design and environmental planning, he is poised to lead projects that emphasize sustainable design practices and green infrastructure. Sipes’ extensive experience and integrated approach to water resources will significantly contribute to the success of CPL’s nationwide projects, enhancing both strategic capabilities and project outcomes.
Prior to joining CPL, Sipes was an associate principal at EDAW (acquired by AECOM) and a senior associate at Jones + Jones, leading environmental planning efforts. He has also taught at several esteemed institutions, including Penn State University, Ball State University, and the University of Florida. Sipes holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. He is a Nationally Certified Landscape Architect and is registered in multiple states, including Texas, Georgia, and Florida.
