CPL welcomes new team members in New York.

Buffalo and Rochester, NY — CPL, a full-service design firm serving public and private-sector clients for 49 years, is pleased to welcome Hector Garrido, AIA, NCARB, Marjorie Newell, Robert Ross, and Kate VanSickle, RA, to its offices in Buffalo and Rochester, New York.

Garrido joins the firm’s Architectural team in Buffalo as a Senior Architectural Project Manager. Drawing from his extensive background in diverse architectural and business roles, he will utilize his well-rounded expertise in project management across various sectors such as government, civic, education and healthcare.

Before CPL, Garrido was an Associate Project Architect/Manager at Trautman Associates in Buffalo. He brings a wealth of academic achievements to his role, holding a master’s in architecture, a master’s in business administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Garrido is a registered architect in New York, an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB), exemplifying his commitment to upholding the highest professional standards in the field. Additionally, Garrido promotes diversity in the A/E industry and participates in the AIA Buffalo/Western NY Chapter’s Diversity Committee.

Newell is joining the firm’s Rochester office as the Learning & Development Program Manager. She will leverage her expertise in professional, sales, and executive development to work with leadership on tailoring training initiatives, enhancing learning experiences, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Before coming to CPL, Newell was a Performance Consultant/Talent Management professional at The Adecco Group in Jacksonville, FL, where she created and delivered training programs to drive results in sales and customer service. Furthermore, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Nazareth College of Rochester.

Ross is taking on the role of Spatial Data Manager in the firm’s Rochester office. He possesses a diverse background spanning product design, collaborative leadership and software engineering. Working closely with the Tech Services team, he will drive the implementation of these innovative technologies at the firm, bolstering their capabilities and delivering enhanced value to clients and communities. Ross’ skill set extends to reality capture, where he adeptly acquires geospatial data using ground-based and UAV platforms to create data-driven interactive assets

Previously, Ross was Director of Web & Data Architecture at Studio Fabric in San Diego, CA. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Digital Cinematography from the University of California San Diego and a Technical Certification in Graphic & Web Design from UCSD Extension.

Lastly, VanSickle will be taking on the role of Architect I at the firm’s Rochester office. Her adaptability and dedication to her craft will enable her to inject projects with fresh ideas and practical solutions, seamlessly aligning with CPL’s reputation for creating enriching spaces for their communities.

A Registered Architect, VanSickle previously served as an Architectural Designer at Razak Associates in Rochester. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University at Buffalo as well as a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati. Her impressive academic background, coupled with her hands-on involvement in a wide range of projects—from K-12 education to healthcare—positions her to deliver outstanding architectural designs that will continue to set CPL apart in the industry.
