The helipad’s strategic placement facilitates rapid access to critical care facilities, such as the emergency department, trauma bays and operating rooms. Equipped with snow and ice removal systems, as well as noise and vibration reduction mechanisms, it streamlines medical transport logistics while minimizing disruptions for patients and caregivers within the hospital.
Several enhancements were implemented to improve safety and functionality for air medical transport operations.
These included fresh striping and landing zone markings to guide pilots during crucial maneuvers, along with specially engineered guardrails, lighting and fire extinguishing systems.
Additionally, specific areas inside the hospital were renovated to optimize response times for life-saving interventions. These encompassed extending existing elevators and stairways to connect with the new helipad entrance and constructing a new elevator lobby designed for gurneys and caregivers.
Today, the helipad bolsters MetroHealth’s Critical Care Pavilion emergency medical service offerings. Critical additions like this enable health systems to deliver timely and comprehensive medical care to the community when it matters most.
