We are thrilled to announce that our K-12 design team has been named a winner in the prestigious Learning by Design Fall 2023 Architecture and Interior Design Awards of Excellence in the Renovation category for our work on the York Central School District (CSD) Middle/High School STEAM Wing. This accolade highlights our team’s commitment to working with clients to deliver inspiring learning spaces that nurture students’ potential and enrich the communities they live in.
Igniting Curiosity and Empowering Success
CPL partnered with the York CSD to convert an underutilized third floor wing of their Middle/High School into a dynamic center supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEAM) education. Through collaborative user group sessions and needs assessments, key district stakeholders provided input to shape the design concept. The space focuses on four key elements: Technology Integration, Flexibility and Adaptation, Project-Based Learning and Cross-Curriculum Design.
The final design incorporates contemporary classrooms equipped with computers, greenscreens and smart screens. Additionally, the wing features versatile laboratories with movable walls for flexible partitioning.
Power and high-speed data connectivity are seamlessly integrated into the space, with retractable cord reels and floor outlets for convenient charging throughout. To create a modern and immersive learning environment, modular furniture, mobile displays and video production rooms are included.
This transformed STEAM wing ignites educational curiosity by equipping teachers with the necessary resources for hands-on research and practical learning experiences. Students actively engage as they acquire a valuable skillset, empowering them for success in the workplace.
