Interior Design
Developed for a leading cardiovascular group, the center was carefully planned to balance clinical functionality, patient comfort and staff efficiency in an advanced outpatient surgical environment. The suite includes two operating rooms—one equipped with a ceiling-mounted C-Arm—along with three pre-op bays, three recovery bays, a central nurse station, sterile processing and decontamination areas, and dedicated staff support spaces.

To maximize wellness and workplace satisfaction, offices, workrooms and the staff breakroom are positioned along the exterior, taking advantage of abundant natural light. The layout also provides seamless connectivity to the neighboring Office-Based Lab (OBL), supporting coordinated care and operational synergy.
Designing the center on the second floor presented unique technical challenges. In addition to the typical fire separations required between tenants, enhanced fire ratings were needed for the floor system between the first and second floors. Our healthcare practice team collaborated closely with the core and shell architect to achieve these requirements while maintaining a cohesive building aesthetic.
Specialized structural detailing was also integrated to support ceiling-mounted surgical equipment with minimal vibration. The center was designed in compliance with Ohio Department of Health standards and QUAD A certification requirements, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory alignment.

The space’s interior design reinforces its connection to the adjacent Vive OBL while establishing a distinct identity. A hospitality-inspired reception and waiting area welcomes patients with large windows that flood the space with natural light and views of the surrounding landscape. A clean, minimalist finish palette—with darker flooring grounding lighter wall tones—extends into clinical areas, creating a calm, contemporary environment that reflects precision and uniformity.

Through thoughtful planning, technical rigor and an emphasis on patient-centered design, Trillium’s new ambulatory surgery center provides a high-performance setting for advanced cardiovascular care while complementing its neighboring practices within the medical park.
