We’re thrilled to announce that the City of Olean’s South Union Street Gateway has been named APWA WNY Small Cities/Rural Communities Transportation Project of the Year by the New York Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA)!
This project, driven by local leaders’ efforts to revitalize aging infrastructure, was designed to improve pedestrian walkability, encourage non-motorized transportation, reduce traffic confusion, and better connect local businesses to the city. Fully funded through New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), CPL’s Infrastructure Practice team was enlisted to transform the gateway into a welcoming and functional community space.
The South Union Street Gateway is one of several roundabouts constructed in recent years as part of the City of Olean’s commitment to sustainability, focusing on mobility, safety, and environmental stewardship. By linking key recreational and commercial areas, the project supports long-term community vitality.
We are grateful to the APWA New York Chapter for this recognition, and we thank everyone in Olean who helped bring this vision to life.
