Gwinnett County Celebrates OneStop Centerville Grand Opening

SNELLVILLE, GA—On October 24, 2024, CPL joined local officials and Gwinnett County residents to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for a highly-anticipated addition to the OneStop Centerville Community Center.

The Center has long served as a lifeline for area locals, offering senior care, a library, summer camps and fitness classes in one convenient location. However, seeking to expand its reach and impact, the Board of Commissioners embarked on an expansion project that would fill service gaps and provide more comprehensive support for residents.

Through collaborative workshops with the County, CPL designed a multilevel addition connected to the Center’s library, creating a flexible space for new early learning, social and human services alongside a combined courtyard and playground.

The first level focuses on children’s services, with color-coded classrooms for Ninth District Opportunity’s Head Start program, a secure parent resource center and youth mental health suites managed by View Point Health. The adjacent outdoor area doubles as a space for both recess and therapy.

The upper level houses the GNR Health Departments, featuring exam rooms, a pharmacy, WIC services, a dental suite and a lab for blood draws. Public waiting areas are designed for comfort, with warm wood tones, ample seating and accessible service windows, and the central entrance is strategically positioned to accommodate future growth as the community evolves.

A standout feature is the 33,000 sq. ft. building’s abundant natural light, with large windows offering serene lake views. This intentionality elevates the interior, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels more like a community sanctuary than an institutional facility.

“The building embodies Gwinnett County’s vision for sustainable, long-term development,” said CPL Architect Chris Forest, who served as Project Manager. “With the full spectrum of services integrated under one roof, OneStop Centerville now stands as a model of holistic community care, where residents can access the quality resources they need, right from their doorstep.”

Serving as Architect of Record, CPL worked alongside the Hogan Construction Group (Construction Manager) to design and deliver the exciting regional amenity.

The $16 million project officially opened its doors to the public on October 24, coinciding with the ceremony.
