RALEIGH, NC — CPL, a full-service design firm serving public and private-sector clients for more than 50 years, is pleased to announce the addition of Rucha Karnik, AIA, NCARB, Luke Newsome, NCARB, LEED GA, and Jennifer (Kristen) Proctor to its offices in North Carolina.
Karnik joins the firm’s Raleigh office as a Senior Architectural Project Manager on the Higher Education practice team. She will oversee the development and execution of architectural projects, ensuring they align with client needs while maintaining high standards of quality, functionality, and efficiency. Additionally, Karnik will work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver forward-thinking solutions that address the evolving needs of academic institutions.
Prior to coming to CPL, Karnik served as a Project Architect/Manager and Associate at CO Architects. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The Pennsylvania State University, is a licensed architect and holds NCARB certification. Karnik is also an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Newsome is also joining CPL’s Raleigh office as a Senior Architectural Specialist with the firm’s Higher Education team. In this role, he will focus on implementing sustainability initiatives, optimizing project efficiency, and partnering with consultants and cross-office teams. His leadership will help shape environments that meet the evolving needs of students and faculty while promoting long-term growth.
Before joining CPL, Newsome held the role of Architectural Associate at Flad Architects. He earned his Master of Architecture from North Carolina State University and his Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a Corporate Social Responsibility Minor from Temple University. Newsome achieved licensure as an architect in September 2023 and is a LEED Green Associate.
As an A&E Business Development Manager, Proctor will work closely with the firm’s Community and Culture team in the Charlotte office to drive business growth throughout the Carolinas. With a focus on the public, civic and municipal markets, she will also cultivate new opportunities, strengthen existing relationships and help shape regional strategy.
Proctor brings extensive experience from her previous roles, including her most recent position as Project Development Coordinator at Samet, where she played a vital part in shaping business development plans. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Promotions from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
