TAMPA, FL — CPL, a full-service architectural and engineering design firm, is pleased to welcome Melanie Como Harris, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, as an Architectural Principal in the Higher Education Practice team out of the firm’s Tampa, FL office.
Como Harris brings over 26 years of experience managing large-scale projects. Her expertise is driven by a strong commitment to creating environments that support student success and enhance the learning experience. As part of the Higher Education team, Como Harris will work with clients to design spaces that foster collaboration, support academic achievement, and positively influence the campus community.
Como Harris’ portfolio showcases a deep understanding of sustainable design and a commitment to creating student-centered environments. She recognizes the vital role higher education institutions play in guiding the future, and her work reflects a strong focus on both effectiveness and empathy in design.

In her new role, Como Harris will focus on serving higher education clients across Tampa and the broader Florida region, home to many prestigious institutions. Among her responsibilities, she will ensure that project teams have the necessary resources to design and deliver projects that align with client needs and expectations.

Como Harris joins CPL from Halflants + Pichette in Sarasota, FL. She holds certifications as a LEED Accredited Professional, WELL Accredited Professional, and LUMA Practitioner. She serves on the City of Sarasota Historic Preservation Board (2023-Present) and is a member of the Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation (2022-Present). In addition, Como Harris holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington, where she also completed a Certificate in Historic Preservation, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida.
