CPL Welcomes New Team Members in Albany

ALBANY, NY — CPL, a full-service design firm that has served public and private-sector clients for 46 years, is pleased to welcome Asif Mall, P.E. and James Luft, E.I.T. to its growing team in Albany, NY.

Mall joins the transportation team as a Bridge Inspection Team Leader. He will draw insight from nearly four decades of industry experience involving bridge design, maintenance and inspection to oversee conceptual design and construction for a variety of CPL’s projects, ensuring the safety and security of all end users. Having worked directly with the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), he brings to the table extreme familiarity with the design codes, guidelines and regulations of several authorities, including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Mall previously worked as a Structural Engineer/Bridge Inspection Team Leader for CDM Smith in Latham, NY. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Sage Graduate School, a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Union College and an Associate of Science from Hudson Valley Community College. In addition to New York state professional engineering licensure, he maintains certifications with the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Also joining the transportation team is Luft, who will design, evaluate and recommend improvements for manmade structures for projects spanning the firm’s diverse practice areas. In his role as a Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader, he will conduct field inspections to perform structural assessments, encompassing steel girder section loss, load rating and fatigue-prone detail evaluation for bridges throughout New York state.

Prior to joining CPL, Luft served as a Structural Engineer for CDM Smith. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering technology from SUNY Polytechnic Institute and an Associate of Applied Science in civil engineering from Hudson Valley Community College.
