CPL Welcomes New Director of Marketing

Rochester, NY – Friday, October 16, 2020 – CPL, a full-service design firm that has served public and private-sector clients for 45 years, is pleased to welcome Sarah Gibson as its new Director of Marketing. Gibson brings nearly 20 years of strategic marketing experience, most recently serving as Group Account Director at Butler/Till in Rochester, NY.

In her new role, Gibson will provide leadership, insight and direction to the firm’s marketing team by overseeing the development of proposals, managing outbound marketing strategies, and designing business development methods that keep pace with client demands. Additionally, she will work to build and maintain relationships with the media, partners and clients alike, as well as evolve the CPL brand to reflect steady growth across all practice areas.

A natural-born problem solver, Gibson has a knack for getting to the heart of challenges or inefficiencies and developing new, refined solutions. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded a number of agile marketing efforts for brands in rapidly evolving categories. This has included the development and execution of successful marketing campaigns for notable brands like Mastercard, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, ESL Federal Credit Union, Northwest Bank, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), NYSERDA, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and Sodexo.

“My POV is that no matter what, there’s always a human at the end of our communication chain,” Gibson said. “Whether it’s products or professional services, we’re always trying to move a human in profound and memorable ways. All of my work centers around deeply connecting with people, which is why I’m excited to be here at CPL. This firm is driven to connect with their clients as people—friends even—and their design work reflects those connections in meaningful ways for all end users.”

Gibson’s professional experience extends to several thought leadership workshops and events in the sustainability and built environment space. She has been a speaker for conferences hosted by the US EPANYSERDA, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE)Garrison Institute, and Greenbuild.

Additionally, Gibson was a member of the Association of Energy Services Professionals, a graduate of the 4A’s Executive Leadership Program, and has a certification in Behavior Change in Energy Efficiency Programs. And as if these extracurriculars didn’t keep her busy enough, she has even found time to be on the Roc City Roller Derby Committee—Rochester New York’s first all-women, flat-track derby league.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sarah to the team,” CPL Chief Culture Officer, Kathy Metcalfe, said. “Sarah comes to CPL with a fresh perspective and deep expertise in strategic marketing, business development and team leadership. Her personable approach is a perfect match for the position and the company. I fully expect her leadership to bring new ideas to the team and have a meaningful impact on our continued growth and success.”

Gibson resides in Rochester, NY with her husband, daughter, and new puppy, Alfie.
