CPL Welcomes David Lazaro to Greensboro

Greensboro, NC – Friday, November 13, 2020 – CPL, a full-service design firm that has served public and private sector clients for 45 years, is pleased to welcome David Lazaro, EIT to its mechanical engineering team in Greensboro, North Carolina. Lazaro brings nearly five years of industry experience, most recently serving as a mechanical engineering designer at Affiliated Engineers, Inc.

At CPL, Lazaro will work in close partnership with mechanical, electrical and plumbing (M/E/P) engineers and architects alike to design complex mechanical systems, conduct site visits and investigate existing building conditions for a wide range of project types. His exceptional ability to collaborate with a variety of project team members is a skill he brought with him to CPL from across the country.

Just six months ago, Lazaro was living in his home State of California, looking to make an exciting and adventurous life move. The search for a new lifestyle and change of scenery began as he yearned to step out of his comfort zone and ultimately travel coast to coast to find his new home in North Carolina.

“I had it in my mind for about a year or so that I wanted to leave Los Angeles and experience life from a different part of our country,” explained Lazaro. “The more I thought about it, the more I realized that what I was really craving was a smaller city with a stronger sense of community. Greensboro felt like the perfect fit.”

Fortunately, Lazaro joined the CPL Greensboro team just as they were moving into their brand-new office space in the “Slugger” building, located at 400 Bellemeade Street in downtown Greensboro.

The 110,00 square foot, nine-story office tower is a desirable destination workplace that overlooks the First National Bank Field – home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers minor league baseball team (single A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates).

“It has definitely been an exciting time for me to join this team,” said Lazaro. “The new office is an awesome work environment that features tons of natural light and collaborative break out spaces. The stunning view of the stadium is an added bonus, as is my five-minute commute to work every day.”

Lazaro was equally as thrilled to move into the Greenway at Fisher Park Apartments, across the street from CPL’s new office.

A graduate from California State University, Lazaro holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. From the beginning of his studies and throughout his career thus far, his desire to learn and grow as an engineer has never faltered.

“I never want to stop learning about this job,” he said. “Every tool, every concept and every system that we deal with is constantly changing. Adapting to those changes, and in some cases anticipating those changes, helps make me a better teammate.”

Lazaro’s unique background and experience brings a fresh perspective to CPL’s mechanical engineering team – one that will have a meaningful impact on the team’s continued growth and success.
