City of Belmont Breaks Ground for New Recreation Center

Belmont, NC – On December 11, 2021, CPL joined Belmont City officials and members of the community to celebrate the construction start of the new Belmont Community Recreation Center.

In addition to offering pleasant views of the Catawba River and popular Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park, the dynamic 42,500 sq. ft., two-story facility will provide basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor walking track, exercise studios, concessions, free-play areas, and multi-use space.

CPL Project Manager, Rachel Nilson, AIA, said, “We worked with the City and residents to deliver a multi-generational recreation center that could offer quality health and wellness programs for all people, regardless of physical, social or economic circumstances. We hope that this modern facility will enrich life and enhance the region long term.”

Flexible-use space designed within the center will be able to host a variety of local and regional events such as athletic tournaments, health and wellness classes, afterschool programs, summer camps, and more.

Additionally, the facility’s 1,170 sq. ft. banquet space with an attached balcony will be able to accommodate up to 80 guests and will be rentable for parties, weddings, and other private events.
