In celebration of Earth Day 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is highlighting efforts to provide clean water and conserve natural resources in rural communities across the United States.

Town and community leaders recently gathered at a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction for the first-ever water district in the Town of Torrey, NY. Project team members, including engineers from CPL and Nardozzi construction teams, were also present.

The town received $2.4 million in funding through USDA Rural Development’s Water and Environmental Program (WEP). Once completed, this project, which has been more than 20 years in the making, will bring reliable clean water to more than 40 households. It will also improve the water quality and conservation efforts on the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
