Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, North Carolina, is well-known for its stunning bell tower and arboretum, which were donated by alumni parents Lynn and Pete Murphy and designed by Ravenscroft alumnus and CPL Southeast Region Higher Education Practice Leader, Ken Mayer, FAIA, LEED AP, in the 1990s.

The design and placement of the bell tower and arboretum were integral to the PK-12 school’s development in the early 2000s and later inspired the creation of several notable buildings. Today, these campus icons are a celebrated part of Ravenscroft’s history and are visual anchors for the school’s community, providing a symbol for schoolwide gatherings, a backdrop for senior and graduation photos and a point of orientation on the ever-changing campus.
