Once housed within the Interdisciplinary Sciences (ISA) Building, the University of South Florida’s (USF) Campus Visitation Center occupied space needed for the university’s expanding research labs. Its relocation provided an opportunity to reimagine the center’s role as the first stop for prospective students—a place that would be both welcoming and distinctly branded.

Our Higher Education practice team was entrusted with moving the program into the John and Grace Allen Building, an original campus landmark. Underutilized space there was thoughtfully transformed into a vibrant admissions hub that celebrates USF spirit while supporting practical outreach efforts.

From the outset, priorities were clear: an inviting lobby; a large meeting room for student groups; and a mix of shared and private offices. Identity markers anchor the design, from backlit USF logos and bold green wall graphics to the university’s bull sign, transferred from its previous home and reframed as a striking centerpiece.
The layout balances openness with comfort. An expansive reception flows seamlessly into meeting and training spaces, complemented by a workroom and break area. Acoustic wood paneling enhances sound absorption while lending warmth and refinement. To build consensus, our team developed multiple design iterations and immersive 3D visualizations, enabling stakeholders to shape and ultimately approve a vision aligned with USF’s goals.

Today, the Campus Visitation Center does more than greet future Bulls—it embodies forward momentum. By freeing vital lab space in the ISA, it has fueled research growth; reinforced the university’s stature as a leader in science and technology; and created a dynamic environment where students and families begin their USF journey with a lasting sense of connection.
