This transformative project featured the design of two new pedestrian bridges to add connectivity over the Chadakoin River to the Jamestown Riverwalk trail and Panzarella Park. In addition to greatly enhancing pedestrian access along the waterfront, the bridges have become catalysts for future economic development.
One bridge connects the north shore of Jamestown Riverwalk to Panzarella Park (189’ long), and the second (140’ long) connects the north and south shores of Riverwalk adjacent to the Washington Street bridge. The project has since received recognition by the American Public Works Association’s (APWA) NY Chapter – Western Branch (Structures Project of the Year <$5 million) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) New York State Upstate Section Achievement Awards Committee (2018 Transportation Project of the Year).
