Founded in 1973, the South Carolina State Museum is a dynamic institution reflecting the essence and diversity of the beautiful state, South Carolina.
The ‘Windows to New Worlds’ project helped position the Museum to be on the cutting-edge of innovative, science education with several new interactive facilities and learning exhibits, including a 125-seat planetarium and observatory that houses a historic 1926 Alvin Clark refracting telescope. Additionally, renovations to the existing building included a significant upgrade of the Museum’s auditorium to accommodate 4D large format film theater presentations.
