Completion Date: Phase 1 - 2018
Total Project Cost: $21.8 Million

Wayne UNC Healthcare is a 316-bed facility serving Eastern North Carolina. The Hospital offers a full range of surgical specialties including general, neurological, vascular, plastic reconstructive and urological surgery. CPL completed a Master Plan that completely replaces the 1960’s vintage surgery suites. The surgical platform uses a race track model with a sterile core serving each of the 12 operating rooms.
The master plan process began by breaking down the barriers between the traditional silos found in a surgery department. Patient staging and PACU were co-located to effect better utilization of space and staff. Without a free standing ASC, attention was focused on creating an exceptional outpatient experience by grouping convenient parking and access to all necessary services immediately upon arriving at the outpatient entrance.
In addition to workflow modifications within surgery, modifications/realignments were made to sterile processing, endoscopy, outpatient labs, pre-admission testing and other ancillary services.
