The Center for Advanced Manufacturing is at Guilford Technical Community College is a 250,000 SF former manufacturing facility from the mid-1960s. The College’s Departments of Machining, Welding, Diesel, Automotive and Collision and Repair, IT and classrooms are all housed together in the Center. During the Pre-Design and Schematic Design phases, CPL performed in-depth space assessments and programming studies of departmental areas to determine their particular space needs within this adaptive re-use project. An additional floor was designed within the building to add future space. CPL is also handled Construction Administration for this project.
In addition, CPL completed the programming and space planning for the relocation of the ITS Department (and other IT related groups), which is currently located in the Medlin Student Center on GTCC’s campus, to relocate to this renovated facility.
Students began occupying this space in August, 2018.
