The City of Locust Grove called upon CPL to design a Public Safety Facility to resemble the former Dormitory for Boys.
The newly constructed municipal building is located adjacent to City Hall, which was placed on the National Historic Register in 1986 as the Locust Grove Institute (LGI) Building. The new facility is located in the same location as the dorm on the north side of the LGI Building.
The facility is comprised of a two-story police and courts administration building (including elevator access, locker rooms, fitness facilities with showers) at approximately 18,000 Gross Square Feet (GSF). The structure holds administrative offices and support areas, teaching and instruction classrooms, a physical fitness facility, and locker rooms and shower facilities for male and female personnel.
The Police and Courts Facility section contains enough space for up to 50 personnel, court room on the second level with controlled access for the delivery of incarcerated persons and a Sally Port from the ground level to the court area for disposition of the respective case.
